Don't Take Our Word For It...Here Is What Our Members Have To Say!
When I started my
lessons at Grand Master K. H. Min Taekwondo in late 2018, I was extremely nervous.
I had never been a very active kid, had progressed into being a relatively
inactive adult, and had only started my fitness journey about eight months
prior. The only thing I was confident about was that there was no way that I
was going to be able to keep up in a martial arts class, and that I was
probably going to fail miserably.
It is now about five
months later, and I have not failed. I have passed both belt tests that have
been offered since I started, which puts me at a yellow belt, and I have also
very recently joined the sparring team. I never would have dreamed that I would
be where I’m at in five short months. I have become enraptured with an
all-consuming passion for taekwondo, and I only have the phenomenal people at
this phenomenal dojang to thank for that.
This dojang sets you
up to succeed from the moment you walk through the doors. Warm and friendly
faces are the first thing you see, and although the training floor in the
dojang is a serious place, the warmth doesn’t stop at the front door.
The dojang has three
Masters that are in the building on a daily basis. The dojang is operated by
two of them, and they are the most inspirational women I’ve ever had the
pleasure of meeting — Master Min and Master A. Min, both of whom are the
daughters of Grand Master Min himself. They both are the living exemplification
of the dojang’s core values of respect, patience, integrity, perseverance,
confidence, and indomitable spirit.
The other Master in
the dojang, Master Park, is the instructor of my Adult’s Beginner class, and I
am overwhelmingly grateful to have the opportunity to learn from someone who is
so accomplished and talented at taekwondo. Not only is he incredibly skilled,
but he is also surprisingly patient, and absolutely hilarious. When I make a
mistake, we laugh about it and try again. He doesn’t give up on you, so as long
as you don’t give up on yourself, you will get it eventually, and therefore you
cannot truly fail.
At this dojang, you
are also surrounded by wonderful classmates. In the Beginner’s class, we are
all learning and just trying to do the best that we can, which allows you to
relax and feel comfortable. The Beginner’s class is run simultaneously to the
Junior’s Advanced class, which has been a lot of fun. It motivates me to push
myself harder and get better, because if the teenagers can have a blackbelt,
why can’t I? They are a very personable and energetic bunch, and I love the
fact that they can give me advice on how to get better in taekwondo, while also
still just being kids that want to talk to me about the book that they’re
reading in class, or about what they’re up to outside of the dojang and school.
I am so thankful that my amazing friend Katie Hintz asked me to join her at this dojang, and I am so thankful to myself for giving it a try. Most of all, I am so immeasurably thankful for my entire taekwondo family at Grand Master K. H Min Taekwondo for showing me that I can become someone that I never thought I had the ability to be."
